Economic globalization is reaching new heights today, and the administration of business these days is by necessity international business administration. To enhance students' understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of international business administration, our course offers a broad curriculum that encompasses international management,international accounting, managerial information, and international communication in addition to core subjects in business administration. With a large international student population, the course itself offers an excellent context for students to engage in international research and exchange.

Financial aids

The school offers many types of financial aids for international students. The hurdle is rather high to receive any type of aids in the first year. However, in second year, a majority of master’s students is able to receive some type of financial aids. The most common aid is reduction of tuition and fees (50 or 30% off).

The school provides a special study room for graduate management students. All students can have their own desk in the room with computers and a printer. This environment provides students to concentrate their study and research while on campus. In addition, the class size is very small with less than ten students. Individual attention, therefore, can be provided. With those academic environments provided by the school, with careful attention and guidance by academic advisors, about 95% of graduate students can complete the management program with a master’s degree.

Program

The school offers both masters and Ph.D. degrees. For a master’s degree, 24 course and 8 seminar credits is required, in addition to a master’s thesis. The Ph.D. program is mainly focused on writing a doctoral dissertation with high level of quality and contribution to the academic field.
The language of instruction for all lecture classes is Japanese. Therefore, all international applicants are required to attain Japanese language skill in order to be accepted for the graduate program. However, the school accepts a master’s thesis and a Ph.D. dissertation written in English.
About 40 graduate classes are offered each year in topics such as Management, History of Management, Organization Theory,
Human Resources Management, Marketing, International Marketing, Management Ethics, Production Management, Comparative Management, Management Information System, International Management, Technology Management, Multinational Organizations, among others. In addition 10 classes in the topic related in accounting and finance, and 5 classes in area studies (North America, Asia-Pacific, China, Japan, and South-East Asia) are also offered.
Generally, students complete 12 courses in the first year, and concentrate in writing a master’s thesis in the second year.

Admission

In average, we accept about 10 students for the master’s program and 3 students for Ph.D. Applicants have to pass an entrance examination. The examination is provided twice a year; one in September and second in February, where the new school year starts in April.
For the master’s program, the entrance examination consists of two parts: one in written examination on the topic related to management and a test on Japanese language skills. In addition, an oral examination with a group of faculty members is required.
As an admission policy, we try to accept majority of students who clear the admission criteria.
For the Ph.D. program, the admission requirements are: To pass a test on Japanese language proficiency and an oral examination. The potential of academic research capabilities of each Ph.D. applicant is carefully evaluated during the oral examination by a group of faculty members.

Student life

Student life

The Minatomirai campus does not provide on campus dormitories for students. Almost all international students find and live in apartments, with the rent ranging from 60,000 to 80,000 yen a month.
For meals and academic goods, the university operates three cafeterias and a convenient store on campus.
